Oh, Christmas Cards....

'Tis the Season to get our Christmas cards made, addressed and sent out.  Sounds like such a simple task when described like this; my husband thinks the above directions are all that's involved, so how hard could it be?  WELL, when you're a card-maker and are pretty much expected to send hand-made cards and not store-bought ones, it's a whole other thing - right ladies??
SO, out comes the giant box of paper 'scraps' (most of which are rather large and would be enough to make several cards), and the digging begins.  I must find all the holiday paper and pull it out - oh! and remember those few die cuts I never used?  They'll be great on some of these!  I'm still looking for them an hour later, there's so much in this box.  Along the way, I get distracted and start sorting some of the smaller bits into their respective 'small scraps' bags, by colour. Back to task at hand, Jan!  But I just remembered (with great enlightenment), that I have a bag in the back room full of Christmas papers and bits!  These, are soooo nice, I really must use them!  Now, back to my table which by now only has one square foot of space for me to work; the rest of these two 8 foot tables is covered completely and naturally, I can't find anything. Such is the way I work and it somehow doesn't bother me.  I hate a mess and things out of place in my home, but I don't even balk at this disaster.
I'm creating a card that I had in my head and it's turning out great!  Oh, this paper doesn't match well with the die cut's colour.  Nothing suitable is showing up in my scrap box.  Guess I'd better cut a new piece of paper so that it looks good.
12 cards later, I've used very little of my 'scraps' and bits that I wanted to use, but I've managed to cut up 10 new pieces of cardstock and 14 new papers.
Where on earth is my list with everyone's address??  I KNOW I had it on my desk in the little organizer.  Well, it's in my PC, too.  15 minutes later, I still can't find the electronic version because (in my infinite wisdom) thought that in September when I got my new PC, I should reorganize all my files.    I know I'll find it, but the clock is ticking!  It's already the 10th and I've got a long way to go!
So, here's the list - phew!  But it seems I've run out of stamps - I was SURE I bought several packs!  I did, but they are lost in this sea of paper and admin stuff on my desk.  I'm a very organized person but I'm tired today and it's been an unusually crazy 2+ months and this is the end result; a teeny bit of chaos for a couple days.  Not too bad of a price to pay considering 99.999% of the time I know exactly where everything is stored/where I put it and what I've got to do.
Get these addressed!  But a few people have moved and I don't have their new addys.  Phone call: MOM!!! I hope you have a minute to give me so-and-so's addresses; I'm trying to get these cards out!  Mom's always come to the proverbial rescue.  Oh darn! I need a US stamp - well, I can't forget that in the finished pile of sealed and addressed cards, that there is ONE in need of this stamp.  I'll grab it when I drop all of these off at the post office.  A few times during this process, my husband has said things like "You've had ALL DAY to make those cards!"  He's lucky I wasn't holding something heavy at the time.
I think next year I'll run classes where I'll get cards made for ME to give out haha!  Sound like a plan?  I'll give a discount, but it will be a '4 for you, one for me' kind of class!  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE doing this and I love everything about Christmas, so I have tons of fun with it.
Time to clear up the tables and sort everything into it's proper place. NOT.  I've got gifts to wrap, baking to do, a house to clean, a few more things to decorate... and that's just the tip of the iceberg!  Next week is Customer Appreciation and a sale to prepare for, PLUS I've got a Christmas party to go to tonight.  And I'm definitely getting all glammed up for that.  Oh, time - where do you go?  There will be no card-making tonight, for tonight, we DANCE!  :)  So, I hope you're all sharing my 'pain' - 'Tis the Season!  jm
